I went to a conference with fellow marketing professionals recently. You’d think that with like-minded people, the subject of marketing and the how-to’s would be pretty similar for all of us. Interestingly, it wasn’t. This is because the subject of marketing and its many tactics and processes have become vast…vast enough to get lost, or at least confused on the best path to take.
Toward the end of the meeting, we all had a chance to help one man’s business through advice/counsel. After he described the business and the marketing challenges he had experienced, about 10 of us went around and gave him marketing advice and suggestions on driving business. No one had the same idea, but all were pretty good and could be applied with success.
Sometimes with too many options, a business opts for a middle-of-the-road approach that isn’t as effective as it could be. This makes planning even more important. The basics are there for any business though…lay the marketing foundation, apply it to a schedule, and build on that marketing platform all day long.
